New 4 Star Review For Huntsman Paperback!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Tale Exceptionally Told, October 10, 2012

Michael did an excellent job weaving this tale. The characters are so well rounded and compelling they drag the reader along as they stumble through their troubles. I find myself unable to decide who to root for, but I desperately want to know what happens to all of them.

The book is divided into three parts, with many years passing by between acts. I found myself a bit confused with certain details at the beginning of new sections, which interrupted the easy flow of the story. But these were mere bumps in an otherwise smooth ride that is a fantastic tale.

Any fantasy enthusiast must add Huntsman to their collection. I know I have and will definitely buy the other titles to complete the set.

I simply can’t wait to see what happens next.

4 Stars for Huntsman!

4.0 out of 5 stars Prepare For a Journey, September 19, 2012

This amazing tale takes place in an 11th century Scandinavian Peninsula that never was, but should have been. With its tale of rune-singing magicians and acid-breathing dragons dangerous in their cunning, Huntsman is a tour de force of a world with characters that have suffered great loss, but who react differently to the vagaries of their fates.

Eyulf the Mage driven by power, Jaakko the huntsman driven by vengeance, and Avitus who merely wishes to live out his life in honor and service are the protagonists of three separate tales that in this first book of the trilogy begin an inexorable journey toward a combined conclusion that this reviewer eagerly looks forward to in the next installment.

A review for Huntsman…

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing story, impeccibly written!, August 30, 2012

This review is from: Huntsman (The Hunted Mage Trilogy) (Kindle Edition)

This story grabbed me from the very first page and I couldn’t put it down! It is written so well, that I found myself inside the story time and time again! Every page was read, nothing skimmed even in an unfamiliar place and time setting. Regardless of your tastes in books, this is a MUST READ! Brilliantly written.

Can’t wait for the second book! What a cliffhanger!

(Author’s addendum…(wow that sounded official. Yes! I make addenda now)(I KNOW…who knew? The plural of addendum is addenda! I had to look it up since spell checker told me addendums was wrong, but I digress!)(BTW, does this set the record for parentheses within a set of parenthesis?) ah…forget it! Too many parenthisese, parenthisess, parenthums? I am starting over again…)

on THIS line!  Author’s Note: Today is the last day to get Huntsman at 25% off list price. To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of my mumbletieth birthday last week.

$5.99 for Kindles, Nooks and other E-readers! And $13.45 for Paperbacks!

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Imagery, August 20, 2012
This review is from: Huntsman: The Hunted Mage Trilogy (Volume 1) (Paperback)

This book transports you to a long ago time and place where magic runes existed and dragons roamed. The exquisite details in the settings are captivating. The realm of magic, is so intricate and like nothing else I’ve read.
From the tragic opening, following the lives of the three main characters, the story unfolds and we see how they start to intertwine by the end. I can’t wait for the second book to find out what happens next.

I really enjoyed going back to early Finnish life. I found this book to be exciting and couldn’t put it down. The introduction of magic and superstition added to the intrigue. I enjoyed the development of the characters and can’t wait for the next book.

Rant: So I finished “Huntsman” by Michael Wilson and it was very enjoyable.  I highly recommend that you pick it up.  So here is my review;
I picked up the sample eBook and unlike so many that give you the title page and maybe the table of contents this gives you four chapters!  After the first chapter I was intrigued after the second chapter I grew enthralled after chapter three I couldn’t put it down.  I purchased the book and was not disappointed.
The story follows three trails that of Eyulf, a Mage who through an accident destroys his home and disfigures himself.  The second Jaakko, a huntsman and his determination to hunt down a vicious beast that devastated his village. The last story we follow Avitus a soldier/sailor who becomes stranded in a new northern land lost to his profession, an older gentleman, finds his way into a kings service.
As the stories progress we see the world unfold with a coming threat. I can see that as I wait for book two to come out, that the stories will further intertwine.
This story is a very interesting view of the fantasy genre the interesting use of magic being tied to old Swedish  folklore of rune-singers somehow singing the elements into shape and form.
All in all by the end of the book it left me wanting more leaves me wondering where the story will go.  I highly recommend it. From what I hear it should be in paperback soon…”
