First newspaper mention…

I am attending the Saima Park Tori again this year…I hope! (Thanks once again to my book distributors for shipping via the wrong service. I needed the extra anxiety of maybe NOT having books to sell at the event!)

My niece forwarded me the link to the Sentinel & Enterprise write-up. I don’t think I’ve been in a newspaper for my writing!

Saima Park Annual Tori is the place to be on Sunday for the Classic Car Cruise as well.

Come on by! I’m almost famous now. Once Steven Spielberg’s people call me back for the movie deal and James Earl Jones agrees to read the audio book version…

Unlearning Assumptions

My niece approached me via Facebook about participating in a new social justice endeavor she works with because A. I sporadically write stuff and B. one of the first themes was Justice and Hospitality.

At first I was reluctant, because…reasons…and then I remembered this story from the recent past.

It was fun to write, and the editors from Streetside were a pleasure to work with in revision mode.

So… Thanks, Kaija!

It was a nice reminder to myself that, despite frustrations, there are great personalities in this world from ALL walks of life.

In the bustle of work-a-day, sometimes you have to make the extra effort. It makes you weary. It is hard to do. They may not need that extra effort, but might simply appreciate that you gave it.

Sometimes, you just ‘have to draw the horse’ and hope…

Combo Post!

Greetings to all!

I want to give a shout-out to youngest sister and her hubby on their new endeavor: homesteading!

Anyone who has experience with homestead farming, off-the-grid lifestyle or the raising and care of farm animals, please stop by the newly established facebook group The Shadowlands Farm and drop a word of encouragement to baby sis and her fam!

Going to try selling some books…

There’s a Tori happening next week…a Finnish market.

As my books are set in Finland AD 1019, I have rented a table to try to sell some books next Sunday.

I had some good sales last time I went in 2014 and now there is Book the Second: DAGGER available so…with a super quiet weekend at the hotel, I, at my lovely Bride’s urging, will attend and put on my salesman’s hat.

We had a fun time at the last Tori and this one has 2 things that make it fun:

  1. It is coupled with an antique Car Show and
  2. It is being held at Saima Park which is where we held our wedding reception almost 26 years ago!

Anyone in the mid-Massachusetts area come on by to say hello! (If you do stop by, you will be subjected to my sales pitch…fair warning!)

Also, I am looking for other gatherings along these lines to sell & sign books and get sales moving. I don’t do enough of these events so if anyone hears of things through the winter in the Mass/New Hampshire area please let me know!

Update on Huntsman Promo and Dagger release…

Due to everyone’s support, Huntsman is #9 in the Kindle Historic Fantasy section under Top 100 Free e-books!

If you go a step more specific into Historic Fantasy/ Myths & Legends/Norse & Viking Huntsman is #6!

Many thanks to everyone who has shared my news to family & friends. Having their books seen by as many people as possible is crucial to self-published authors. That and getting James Earl Jones to call back about reading the Audio Book for me…he’s so darn busy!

HUNTSMAN is still available at no cost all day today. December 9th. All reviews of Huntsman are valued, btw. If you have downloaded and liked what you have read, please let me know what you think!

DAGGER has gone on-line early. Book 2 in The Hunted Mage Trilogy.

DAGGER for Paperback is available from Createspace which is a division of Amazon. If you’d like a Book instead of an e-book, THIS is the link you want!

DAGGER for Amazon Kindle is available here!

DAGGER for Other styles is being distributed to Apple and Kobo via Smashwords also. Those may take some time. I will send word when I know when.

Reflections on Victory

So…if anyone ever asks you: “What do you think it’s like to self-publish your own books?” you can refer them to this article!

It feels just like this:

Sam: [Both are overcome by exhaustion] Do you remember the Shire, Mr. Frodo? It’ll be spring soon. And the orchards will be in blossom. And the birds will be nesting in the hazel thicket. And they’ll be sowing the summer barley in the lower fields… and eating the first of the strawberries with cream. Do you remember the taste of strawberries?

Frodo: No, Sam. I can’t recall the taste of food… nor the sound of water… nor the touch of grass. I’m… naked in the dark, with nothing, no veil… between me… and the wheel of fire! I can see him… with my waking eyes!

I was eating lunch today, talking with my Bride and while we talked…like the great Eye, watching…was Book Two. I was eating, but not tasting, talking and hearing, but not really registering her words or my responses.  My brain was 1,000 years away…Finland AD 1019…and the Great Eye of ‘Deadline’ loomed above me.

(Doing this writing stuff be’s hard. I must be a special type of weird to want to do it again for Book 3)

Like a lonely hobbit, my paperback edition roams the wastelands. But because of that drawback I have pushed ahead…

Instead of December 10th…DAGGER is available now! No…really! My Uncle  was the first bootleg copy to download when I was waiting for the official word but stepped out to pick up Kiddo from dance class…Props to de Unx for his Net-Fu skills!

DAGGER for Kindle!! Right Here!

DAGGER for E-Readers…Follow Me!

DAGGER for Nooks…Hold your Horses, Nooklings…I am almost there. And my lone Nook fan gets first shot at it.

It has taken me approximately For-Eh-Ver to accomplish this…but I can now officially say it: The Hunted Mage Trilogy Book 2 is OUT! The DAGGER has been thrown!

Well, this hasn’t gone the way I envisioned…

My plans went as I wanted but there is a glitch…

My files are still ‘in review’. I not sure what that means fully or how they review. Is it people or computer ‘reviewing’ my files?

I sorta feel like this:

I just don’t remember Huntsman taking this long to review. Continue reading Well, this hasn’t gone the way I envisioned…
